The regular meeting of the Borough Council of the Borough of Rocky Hill was called to order by

Mayor Robert Uhrik at 7:00 PM followed by the salute to the flag.

Public Comment

Raymond Whitlock, 94 Crescent Avenue, relayed greetings from Sam Panicaro, lifelong Rocky Hill Resident who recently turned 98 years old.

Discussion Regarding Flag and Bell

Pamela Patton, 27 Montgomery Ave., presented information to the Council on preserving the historic bell and flag currently on display in the Municipal Building. See attached memo prepared by Ms. Patton.

Mr. Monzo announced that it is his last meeting, and he is retiring from all public employment. Mr. Monzo thanked the Governing Body and urged Rocky Hill to remain a small town.

Ms. Battalglia has been named the new chair of the committee.

              Buildings & Grounds - M. Sibley

Mr. Sibley intends to change the combination for the door in the next two weeks and again in two months. New paths have been cut in the fields in the Green Acres. A new soccer net will be installed, and a new tennis net has been ordered. Ms. Battalia announced that the playground repairs are complete.

 

The floor was open to public comment. Gerianne Linden, the director of the Rocky Hill Cooperative Nursery School, spoke about building safety. Ms. Linden stated that in the 19 years she has been director of the school, the building code has only changed once. Ms. Linden suggested that the Council consider measures such as: a notice outside the door explaining how to pay tickets, regular code changes, notice to the school when service people are coming to the building and scheduling service for the afternoon. Ms. Linden also stated that the school is required to have radon and air quality testing done, and with re-licensing it is required to the have water quality testing.

New Business

Ms. Hallman informed the Council that the Shade Tree Committee have filled the planters on Washington Street.

 

Ms. Battaglia suggested a special meeting to enact an ordinance for sewer connection fees, but because of publication times, there is not enough time for a special meeting. Ms. Newman pointed out that the resolution on sewer connection fees allows for the adjustment of fees when the audit is complete.
